Whether you’re a first time patient or a regular we want you to walk away feeling confident that your dental health is in the hands of a dentist that you can truly trust.
We take time getting to know you and listen to your concerns in order to tailor solutions for your specific dental needs and, as a fully accredited dental practice, you can rest assured that the dental care you receive is of the highest possible standard.
Your first visit
We know the feeling. You’re in need of a dental check-up but just don’t know where to go. You’re nervous but know that it’s important and that it has to done.
Well we can assure you that if you’ve been looking for a good dentist near you, then you’ve come to the right place…
Here’s how your first appointment with us will typically run:
- Medical history form – please arrive about five minutes prior to your appointment to fill this in
- Comprehensive oral exam – we’ll check your jaw, teeth, gums and oral tissues to make sure everything is looking healthy
- Xrays – we’ll check that there are no underlying issues and no hidden nasties.
- Scale and polish – Here’s where we give your teeth a good and thorough clean to remove any buildups of calculus, restoring their natural shine
- Fluoride treatment – this will help protect the enamel on your teeth and prevent decay
MEDICAL HISTORY FORMS
As it is important that we have the necessary information to understand your dental needs, you may be asked to complete a quick medical history form that provides us with important information about you and your medical history.
This ensures that we are aware of any conditions that may affect how we manage your dental treatment and also of anything that you may be worried about or might like to change. This general health picture will enable Dr Lassemillante to plan your dental care in the best way possible.
We can assure you that your personal information is treated confidentially and used only for the purpose for which it is intended.
Treatment Plans
At Edge Dental Care, we recognise the importance of two-way communication and appreciate your questions and comments as it allows us to make sure you are fully informed about your dental health, particularly if you need treatments such as fillings, crowns etc. If you do have any issues, Dr Lassemillante will explain to you exactly what the issue is and will provide you with some treatment options which she will discuss with you so that you can make informed decisions about your dental care.
As part of this process we often print out treatment plans which includes a description of each appointment you may need and an estimation of costs. Unlike many other dental clinics, we want you to feel as informed as possible so that you can feel confident enough to speak up about any concerns you may have.
If you’ve got any questions we are more than willing to answer them!
Dental X-rays
X-rays of your teeth are necessary to gain an understanding of any problems or underlying issues that cannot be seen simply by looking into the mouth. The x-rays are taken every two years so that your dental records are as up to date as possible and so that we can refer to them when maintaining your oral health.
Check out our instagram post for an example of why xrays are important.
Patient billing
We request that all accounts are settled in full at the end of each appointment. Payment can be made by MasterCard, Visa, Amex, cash, cheque and EFT. We are also equipped to take payments by card securely over the phone.
Health Funds
If you have private health insurance with Extras cover, please remember to bring your health fund card to each dental appointment as our Hicaps terminal offers the convenience of instant claiming. If you happen to forget your card, don’t stress. We provide you with a statement at the end of each appointment which outlines the details of your appointment along with the dental codes and prices which you can then use to claim your health rebate.
We are not part of a larger health fund or other network, as we feel this does not allow us to provide optimal dental care for our patients. We do not want a large corporate company to dictate the quality of care our patients can have.
Some of the most common health funds our patients are with include Bupa, HCF, AHM, NIB, Medibank, Teacher’s Federation health, Doctors’ health, Phoenix health, GMHBA, Frank health and many more.
Reminders
Every effort is made to facilitate us running on time. You will be allocated an appointment time slot appropriate to the planned treatment. Our software reminder system uses emails and text messages to remind you of your appointments. You will recieve a confirmation email once an appointment is booked with Dr Lassemillante, which will then be followed up with a text message a week before and then a day before your dental appointment. We ask that you please respond to these text messages so that we can confirm your appointment or call us if you need to reschedule.
Cancellations
We understand that things change and perhaps an appointment needs to be rescheduled. If you need to cancel an appointment, please try to give us at least 24 hours notice so that we can offer the appointment to someone else. Failure to attend a confirmed appointment may result in a fee being charged.
Dental Emergencies
It can happen any where at any time. If you’ve chipped or broken a tooth or if your suffering from toothache we are here for you. We allow time every day for patients presenting with dental emergencies and will endeavour to see you as soon as possible. New patients are also welcome to use this service. Out of normal opening hours we have an emergency contact number on our answering machine.
However, we strongly emphasise regular maintenance in order to prevent dental emergencies as no one enjoys having toothache, especially when it could have been preventable.
